Swedish Massage - A smooth, relatively light and relaxing massage which releases toxins and increases circulation throughout the body.

Neuromuscular (Deep Tissue)  Massage  A deeper massage which focuses on tight muscles and their surrounding tissue.  Its purpose is to locate and release areas of toxic build-up as well as to release chronically tight muscles.

Myofascial Release - A massage involving slow, deep strokes which focus on areas of pain or distress.  This technique can release deep stresses throughout the body, including areas not touched directly.

Lomi-Lomi  Massage- Developed in the Hawaiian temples, this is a massage of rhythmic and gliding strokes designed to reconnect body and spirit.

Cranio-Sacral  Therapy- A relatively recent development in mind/body work, this therapy connects the practitioner to the C/S system responsible for communication between mind and body.  The effect can be profound leading to the improvement of that communication and enhancement of the immune system. At the same time, it provokes immediate release of physical and emotional stress.

Lymphatic Drainage - A therapy that connects the practitioner to the lymphatic system in order to break down blockages that stunt its proper functioning.

Thai Massage - This modality is sometimes referred to as the lazy man's yoga.  While the postures are similar, the practitioner aids the client in increasing his or her range of motion beyond that which could be achieved alone.  The results are the immediate release of tight muscles, profound relaxation, breathing awareness, and a deep sense of well being.

Reflexology - An ancient technique which links certain points in the feet and hands to corresponding areas of the body.   Circulation is enhanced and the entire body is rebalanced.

Massage can have profound positive effects on the individual's physical and psychological health.  Deep stresses released during massage can be the result of a physical or psychological event that occurred yesterday, or decades ago. The well-being associated with their release is both immediate and long-term.  To some degree, every release increases potential life span since their storage makes the body less efficient in doing the job for which it is perfectly designed.  Drinking plenty of water after a massage is essential...the toxins which will inevitably be released into the bloodstream must be flushed out immediately.  Otherwise, they will find another area of the body lacking in nutrition and/or oxygen and simply redeposit.

Please keep in mind that even though massage can benefit the individual's over-all health, or aid in the healing of specific problems, it should never be regarded as a substitute for the advice and care of a medically trained person regarding specific or general physical or psychological disorders.

The parasympathetic nervous system gets the opportunity to do its work - healing your body - both during and after touch therapy. Help it continue...be good to yourself and take care of yourself to the same degree that you take care of others you love.
